Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Plans, schedules, and assigns work to ensure production goals are achieved.
- Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for preparing work assignment schedule
for all warehousemen according to daily, weekly and monthly tasks, in close
cooperation with warehouse manager. - Measuring available warehouse space on weekly basis and reporting same to
management. - To make sure that the stored cargo in the warehouse is always identifiable by
it’s warehouse number and a corresponding map (maps should be kept
updated for LME cargo and as required for all the other cargo) - Oversees the integrity and accuracy of internal work order and inventory
controls documenting warehouse operations as well as controlling operational
expenses such as internal labor, temporary labor, equipment maintenance,
security, property rentals and miscellaneous expenses. - Ensures employees meet all established standards for safety, productivity,
accuracy, equipment maintenance, housekeeping and quality in production. - Responsible for the training of all Warehouse Personnel in the safe and
efficient operation of all PITs (Power Industrial Trucks). - Supervises the daily work of Warehouse and as required in the following
activities: shipping, receiving, loading and unloading trucks, railcars,
containers. - Coaches and trains employees in the performance of warehouse activities.
Encourages TEAM participation in day-to-day activities and makes cost
effective decisions with respect to staffing and scheduling. - Holds periodic informal meetings with employees and managers, in groups or
individually, to discuss questions and concerns as well as a forum for
procedural and safety training. - Assists and advises management in matters of employee relations (e.g.,
disciplinary issues, terminations, etc…) - Works closely with his direct manager as well as other warehouse facility
managers in the scheduling and assignment of labor on a day-to-day basis
depending upon the workloads within the various facilities. - OHSA and MSDS
- Prepares reports of injury for Workers Compensation
- Prepares various internal production and personnel reports
- Works closely with Company’s Safety & Training Manager to ensure that the
training records are kept up to date with no expired dates. - Ensures that the PIT hour meters are recorded on a monthly basis while taking
step required for the proper maintenance of all the PITs. - Safety and related training shall always be the number one priority in
assuming this position. - Other responsibilities shall include familiarity with all the company’s
procedure manuals including but not limited to: The Company’s Employee
Handbook, The Shipping/Receiving and Handling Procedures, The OSHA
Compliance Inspection manual, individually aimed Handling Procedure for
any specific cargo, The Hazard Communication Manual (HAZCOM) and The
HAZMAT Security Plan
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential
duty satisfactorily.

Education / Experience
- High-school diploma, (some college and/or Academic accomplishment is
preferred). Three (3) Years supervisory work experience in the field or related
area. - Strong background in general warehousing/logistics preferred.
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions
to practical situations. - Ability to work with and convert American and Metric measurements.
Computer Skills
- Skilled in use of Excel and Word.
- Experience with WMS
- Reasoning Ability
- Ability to define problems, collect information and data, establish facts, draw
valid conclusions and implement plans.
Practical Ability
- Ability to lead, develop, instruct and train personnel, as well as generate innovative solutions to practical matters.
Other Skills and Abilities
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Working knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations
- Ability to work in a fast paced, multitasking environment while projecting a highly professional image.
- Experience with handling unitized non-ferrous cargos, bagged commodities, soft commodities and commodities traded on terminal markets a plus.
