Job Overview

Summary

The Senior Manager of Accounting will report to the Senior Director of Accounting and will primarily be responsible for managing and supporting the general ledger team. The Senior Manager will be responsible for having a detailed knowledge of the accounting process, assist in compiling and analysing data, identifying trends, formulating conclusions, and ensuring the accuracy of the financial statements. They will also manage and support the team of accountants on daily accounting procedures and month end close responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, analytical ability, a keen eye for identifying areas of improvement, and experience maintaining proper internal controls.

Job Duties

  • Manages employees including interviewing, hiring and providing extensive assistance, direction, training, and coaching to team members in carrying out their job responsibilities and group goals
  • Ensures all GL transactions are recorded, documented, reviewed and supported in accordance with company policies and controls
  • Establishes and monitors efficient accounting processes/procedures, controls, and work prioritization
  • Resolves accounting issues and assists in understanding and eliminating accounting discrepancies
  • Communicates with accounting and line of business management regarding issues and potential resolution
  • Provides audit support upon request
  • Other duties as required and assigned

Requirements

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from a 4 year college or university
  • Minimum 6 years of accounting experience with increasing responsibility, including 2 years of experience managing a team
  • CPA preferred, and must have a strong technical accounting skillset
  • Experience with a general ledger, MS Dynamics knowledge preferred, or recent experience with big ERP (Oracle, SAP, etc.)
  • PC proficiency to include Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

  • Ability to communicate clearly and consistently with individuals at various levels
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence, including technically accounting documentation
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Ability to meet commitments and deliver high quality results while working well with other team members or on an individual basis
