Senior Logistics Coordinator (Drayage) – Lancaster – USA

Job Overview

Summary

The Senior Logistics Coordinator, Drayage role is responsible for managing and coordinating intermodal service requests from customers, with the goal of meeting and exceeding customer expectations, while accurately tracking various shipment pick-ups to their final deliveries. This individual will be an integral part of the coordination of transportation and operations for branch account. The Intermodal group is a newer product offering to DSV Road US and this position will help to create the foundation. The ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment is critical. Execution of job duties will require a team-oriented individual that is customer service focused, and able to obtain a strong knowledge of systems and vendor capabilities.

Essential duties & responsibilities

  • Creates quotations for individual shipments, including estimating prices for the shipper, selecting transportation companies to use, and setting profit margins for individual shipments
  • Measures and monitors carrier’s service levels to ensure benchmarking is tracked within the VFT (Visual Freight Tracking) system
  • Provides direction and sets pricing guidelines for Carrier Sales team
  • Researches and determines growth opportunities within DSV
  • Works directly with customers on the receipt and processing of transportation requirement requests
  • Assists in the training of Carrier Sales team members
  • Acts as a next level reviewer for troubleshooting errors and/or issues
  • Utilizes various transportation software systems to facilitate material movement, planning, and scheduling
  • Tracks and traces shipments from pickup through delivery to ensure accurate and up-to-date shipment information is being provided to customers
  • Ensures customer expectations are met or exceeded by completing accurate and timely scheduling/dispatching of drayage trucks and rail.
  • Other duties and project work as assigned by manager

Minimum required qualifications

Education /Experience
  • High School diploma
  • 3 years’ experience in logistics, intermodal transport, or related field

Skills, knowledge & abilities required

Computer Skills
  • Proficient with all Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience with transportation management systems
Language Skills
  • English (reading, writing, verbal)

Preferred skills

  • Knowledge of port and rail drayage
  • Ability to be a self-starter in a team environment
  • Understanding of intermodal drayage and how to coordinate door-to-door solutions
  • College degree in Logistics or Supply Chain
  • Superior leadership, planning and organizing skills
  • Ability to work in a multi-tasked, fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours
