Job role description

Sea freight Coordinator is a professional who provides quality of sea freight for clients across the UK and Europe, and also provide transportation on demand and special cargo movement. The successful candidate will take on a range of responsibilities to support the Ocean Freight projects operationally within the business while ensuring the customer service are up to date on business activity, this will include both Import & Export operations, dealing with 3rd party haulers and last mile (both UK and international), negotiating cost-effective and competitive rates, and working with warehouse departments to manage goods in and out. Sea freight coordinator is responsible for working closely with warehouse to ensure space availability for incoming sea and road freight (goods in) and provide a smooth process on goods out, where inland delivery bookings are needed.

Customs knowledge is essential; however, documentation and customer process will be done externally.
Another key element of the role is to liaise with internal and external clients/forwarders handling Sea Freight processes and have confidence to offer guidance to clients accordingly. As well  as general Sea Freight Coordinator duties such as collecting payments, booking jobs, quoting, and  pricing, general office admin.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in Ocean Imports & Exports for FCL and LCL from start to finish – Essential.
  • Experience in Quoting & Booking jobs – Essential.
  • English Language skills (both writing and speaking) – Essential.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication skills – Essential
  • Experience in dealing with Forwarders / 3rd party firms – Highly Desirable
  • Knowledge and experience in Customs
  • Commercial awareness
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Be a highly motivated and passionate professional, ideally with experience in the international logistics/e-commerce industry.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Monitoring and manage day to day operations for sea freight and transport for the company’s clients.
  • Log incoming quotation requests and manage to provide a cost-effective and competitive delivery/collection rate.
  • Communicating details of transport to all customers.
  • Also, if required, the person will be assigned as the account manager for certain accounts to complete the duties such as invoicing and payment follow ups.
  • Communicating with transport and warehouse department to ensure availability in the warehouse for smooth flow within goods in and out.
  • Booking of deliveries and collections.
  • Constant communication with last miles for transport purposes and 3rd party warehouses
  • Invoice files with monthly deadlines – Ensure suppliers invoices are pay timely.
  • Negotiating costs with suppliers
  • Perform other duties as assigned by

Salary

  • £23,000 – £27,000 annually

Working hours

  • Mon – Fri: 9am-6pm
