Regional Airfreight Director – Chicago, IL, USA

Job Overview

CEVA Logistics is seeking a motivated individual to develop and execute our Airfreight Healthcare strategy across North America.  This includes:

-Supporting Business Development

-Consulting our customers to identify need and acting as subject matter expert

-Designing high quality market competitive solutions and supporting the sale of those solutions

-Ensuring flawless operational implementation with a strict respect to quality requirements, consistent performance, and meeting our promises/obligations to the customer


Key Accountabilities

1. Drives and manages the roll-out of Airfreight health-care / temperature sensitive products in the region. This requires a cross-functional effort from Operations, Customer Service to BD.  Responsible for ensuring the suitability for Cold Chain infrastructure in the region

2.  Gathers and analyzes customer data to determine their needs and therefore to provide the best solution.  Design temperature sensitive solutions in close cooperation with relevant stakeholders and propose the right transportation solution and support BD with the required expertise in order to help them win new temperature sensitive business. On BD’s request, consult customer in regards to those services

3.  Support pricing teams or GTM with expertise as to the temperature sensitive airfreight transport solution and the costing of those solutions and technical transportation options to/from your region

4.  Gather regional market intelligence in regards to product development and operations around healthcare &/ temperature sensitive products and feedback to Global Airfreight Product Development as well as the BD community

5.  Implementation and coordination of any lease of cold chain equipment or purchase of any cooling devices in alignment with Global standards. Ensure that operational processes allow for timely return of rental equipment

6.  Ensure that global SOP or Work Instructions for these products are embedded in the local instructions, that the respective training material is available and that the right number of staff have been trained according to the agreed standards as defined by Global Airfreight and Global Quality/Compliance

7.  Close coordination with BizImp and Operations to ensure that new healthcare customers are on-boarded / implemented professionally in all operations sites of the region

8.  Monitor / analyze the performance of those services, perform root cause analysis on any incident along with the QA department and initiate the respective corrective action. Responsible for creating the respective reports

9.  Collect and analyze operational information and data in regards to temperature sensitive product operations on airports, at CEVA stations and gateways within your region. This data is to serve global Product Management such as for updating of a lane/risk management software, but also the local operations in your own region


Knowledge, Experience & Skills


In-depth Air freight forwarding knowledge for airfreight for at least 10 years

Experience in healthcare and proven expertise in cold chain logistics for > 5 years

Advanced GMP Auditing and Fundamentals

Advanced GDP Training and Auditing experience

Ability to travel to all relevant regional locations and to vendors or customers

Experience in Airfreight Operations as well as a good knowledge on healthcare customer requirements

Proven experience as a pragmatic leader including issue resolution.

Project Management experience

Good understanding of process management, MS-Office

Strong organizational and communication skills, representation skills



Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline combined with significant experience in similar quality role

Good understanding of regulatory healthcare cold chain requirements, notably GDP and CEIV.
