Ocean Reefer Business Development Manager – Miami – USA

Job Overview

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Establish sales strategies, target lists, volume goals, etc. for all reefer segments within the assigned US Areas.
  • Communicate, align, and ensure execution of said strategies together with local and area sales resources plus nominated overseas counterparts.
  • Make recommendations of strategic nature to ensure sustained growth of Schenker market share in Ocean Reefer.
  • Maintain and pursue number of own (mix of existing and target) accounts.
  • Visit all area offices on a regular basis for joint sales calls with local branches.
  • Report to the area management on a monthly basis on the overall progress of the program including volume developments against set targets.
  • Maintain lines of communication with Regional and Global Reefer Network and International Operations contacts and local customers.
  • Compliance with Quality, Safety, Health, Environment (QSHE) procedures, working instructions and guidelines (ISO 9001).
  • 50 % Domestic (assigned Area(s)), and possibly international travel required.
  • Respond promptly to customer needs and solicit customer feedback to improve service
  • Strive to continuously build knowledge and skills
  • Set goals and objectives and develop realistic plans
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization may exist


Details/Specification/Explanation of the role specific skills
  • Clear understanding of Reefer and Perishable Logistics.
  • Extensive understanding and business network in the main Latin American produce production areas; in particular Chile and Peru.
  • Thorough understanding of produce production, logistics and marketing and distribution.
  • Capable of generating creative solutions
  • Demonstrated problem solving and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrate attention to detail
  • Able to gather and analyze information
  • Demonstrate group presentation skills and be able to speak persuasively in positive or negative situations
  • Prioritize and plan work activities
