Position Summary

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Ocean Import Specialist to join our South Carolina team. As an Ocean Import Specialist, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating the importation of goods by sea, ensuring compliance with customs regulations and providing exceptional service to our clients. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Handle end-to-end ocean import operations, including coordination with international agents, carriers, and vendors.
  • Prepare and submit import documentation, such as bills of lading, customs declarations, and commercial invoices.
  • Ensure compliance with customs regulations, including tariff classifications, valuation, and country of origin requirements.
  • Coordinate and monitor shipment progress, including tracking, customs clearance, and delivery to the final destination.
  • Communicate with clients, vendors, and internal teams to provide status updates and resolve any operational issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of shipments, invoices, and other relevant documentation.
  • Collaborate with the customs brokerage team to ensure timely and accurate customs clearance.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in ocean freight forwarding.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, addressing client inquiries and resolving any concerns promptly.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in ocean import operations or a similar role.
  • Solid understanding of international shipping procedures and customs regulations.
  • Proficiency in using shipment tracking systems and software applications relevant to the role.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in time-sensitive situations.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet changing business needs and work extended hours when required.
