Responsibilities
Coordinate and manage the import process for ocean freight shipments, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
Liaise with overseas agents, steamship lines, and customs brokers to obtain necessary documentation and ensure compliance with import regulations.
Prepare and process shipping documentation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, and import declarations, in accordance with customs requirements.
Collaborate with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure smooth operations and resolve any issues that may arise during the import process.
Coordinate cargo bookings with ocean carriers, negotiate rates, and monitor shipment schedules for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Track and trace shipments, providing regular updates to clients and internal stakeholders on shipment status and anticipated arrival dates.
Coordinate customs clearance activities, including document submission, duty and tax calculations, and resolving any customs-related issues.
Work closely with warehouse personnel to arrange timely delivery of imported goods to the designated locations.
Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and requests professionally and promptly, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
Stay updated on industry trends, import regulations, and best practices related to ocean import operations.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (preferred) OR equivalent work experience in the logistics industry.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in ocean import operations, preferably in a freight forwarding or logistics company.
Strong knowledge of customs regulations and import compliance requirements.
Familiarity with ocean carriers, shipping lines, and freight rates.
Proficiency in using shipping software and systems for documentation and tracking purposes.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Attention to detail and accuracy in preparing shipping documentation and customs paperwork.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
Problem-solving and decision-making abilities to handle issues and provide effective solutions.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
