Purpose of the position

As an Ocean freight Forwarder you work in a team of Ocean freight professionals in which you are responsible for the timely and correct organization and technical handling of documentation/information of sea freight shipments for our customers. Ensuring excellent day-to-day communication with customers is an important aspect of the role.

Main tasks

  • Organizing and handling sea freight shipments and all related activities;
  • Drafting associated documents;
  • Where necessary, have goods declared to Dutch customs or have transit documents drawn up by a customs declarant;
  • Professional communication with customers, foreign agents, shipping companies, other departments within VCK and other stakeholders;
  • (Ad hoc) price agreements with customers and suppliers;
  • Solve problems at shipment level, keeping the customer’s interests in mind;
  • Responsible for the calculated delivery of shipment files (purchase/sales calculations);
  • Responsible for the accurate, complete and correct delivery of shipment files;
  • Assess transport routes for risks for pharmaceutical goods in line with GDP guidelines and advise customers on this;
  • Execution of daily processes in accordance with ISO 9001 and GDP guidelines.

Social interaction

Informative communication with customers, foreign agents, shipping companies, direct colleagues in the department(s) and other stakeholders.

Authorizations

Authorized to issue logistics orders to suppliers, in line with the position. Authorized to make (ad hoc) price agreements at shipment level, in line with the position.

Job Features and Requirements

  • MBO/HBO work and thinking level;
  • Knowledge of modern languages ​​in speech and writing, especially the English language;
  • Knowledge of logistics processes related to road and sea transport;
  • Knowledge of handling dangerous goods (IMO) sea freight shipments;
  • Basic knowledge of customs matters;
  • Knowledge of Good Distribution Practices.
  • If deployed at the Pharma Logistics department;
  • Data processing, good knowledge of Microsoft Office software and Microsoft Dynamics Business Central;
  • Processing information attentively in a situation where business is regularly interrupted by telephone conversations and the like.
