Job Summary

The Multimodal Operations Person is responsible for supporting the coordination and execution of efficient and effective multimodal transportation operations.
They work closely with various stakeholders, including carriers, suppliers, and internal teams, to ensure the smooth flow of goods and materials across different transportation modes, such as air, land, and sea.
This role involves managing logistics processes, monitoring shipments, and providing operational support to ensure timely and accurate delivery of products.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Logistics Coordination
    • Assist in planning and coordinating transportation activities across multiple modes, considering factors like inventory levels, production schedules, and customer requirements.
    • Collaborate with internal teams, carriers, and suppliers to schedule shipments, optimize routes, and ensure the availability of necessary resources for smooth operations.
  2. Shipment Monitoring and Tracking
    • Monitor the movement of shipments, track their progress, and update relevant stakeholders on shipment status, delays, or deviations from the plan.
    • Utilize transportation management systems and other tools to gather real-time data on shipments and provide visibility into their location and estimated delivery times.
  3. Documentation and Compliance
    • Assist in preparing and managing shipping documentation, including bills of lading, customs declarations, and certificates of origin, ensuring compliance with regulations and trade laws.
    • Collaborate with customs agents and other parties to ensure accurate and timely completion of required documentation for smooth customs clearance.
  4. Communication and Stakeholder Management
    • Maintain regular communication with carriers, suppliers, and internal teams to address any issues, resolve conflicts, and ensure alignment on transportation plans and priorities.
    • Respond to inquiries from stakeholders regarding shipment status, delivery schedules, and any operational concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  5. Problem Resolution
    • Identify and troubleshoot operational issues that may arise during transportation, such as delays, damages, or disruptions, and work with relevant parties to find prompt and effective solutions.
    • Collaborate with carriers and internal teams to implement corrective actions and preventive measures to minimize the occurrence of operational issues.
  6. Data Analysis and Reporting
    • Collect and analyze transportation data, including performance metrics, costs, and service levels, to identify opportunities for optimization and efficiency improvement.
    • Prepare reports and present findings to management, highlighting key insights and recommending process enhancements or corrective actions as needed.

Qualifications & Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent; a bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience in logistics operations, preferably with exposure to multimodal transportation.
  • Familiarity with transportation management systems (TMS) and related software applications.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure accurate documentation and efficient coordination of shipments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Knowledge of transportation regulations, customs requirements, and international trade laws is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and other relevant software applications.
