Finance Accounting Supervisor – Houston – USA

Your role

The Accounts Payable Supervisor reports to the Director or Manager of Accounts Payable and is accountable for managing certain aspects of the AP process within North America (USA, Canada, Mexico, Guam, and Puerto Rico). The AP Supervisor, together with Country Finance Manager, Ops Controller, Country Product Controller and Country Product Leader, will ensure compliance with CEVA business rules, payments to suppliers are made timely and accurately, the organization remains compliant with principals of Sarbanes Oxley and other relevant internal control regulation, partner with country finance and operational leadership to proactively identify and resolve supplier issues and drive on time payment performance. Models and acts in accordance with our guiding principles and core values.

What are you going to do?

  • Partner with operations and Cash Management to provide timely and accurate forecasts of daily and weekly cash needs.
  • Supervise daily accounting operations to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, Sarbanes Oxley guidelines and other regulatory requirements.
  • Identify, propose, and implement process improvements in current policies and procedures to expedite workflow.
  • Monitor and manage supplier account balances and take decisive action to proactively resolve invoice approval and payment issues.
  • Assist with period end close and reporting, as necessary.
  • Act as the liaison between the department, IT, and other stakeholders on financial system issues and enhancement projects.
  • Assist with regulatory filings: 1099 and unclaimed property for the USA, T-4 for Canada and others as identified by supervisor.
  • Manage, train, and develop staff on routine AP matters, special projects, accounting procedures and company policies.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to shared service centre personnel.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What are we looking for?

Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Business Administration or equivalent education and experience.
  • Minimum two years related experience
  • Minimum two years supervisory or lead experience
  • Working Knowledge of U.S. GAAP principals, Sarbanes Oxley and other relevant regulatory requirements
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Managerial accounting skills, ability to use and explain accounting regulations and demonstrated success in supervising and providing daily guidance and training to staff on AP processes and other workflow issues.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet, web-based and job specific software applications.
  • Capable of communicating and interacting effectively with multi-functional and diverse backgrounds and effectively presenting information and responding to questions from senior management, employees, clients, customers and the general public.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems and develop appropriate solutions.
  • Allocates work assignments and responsibilities to others to maximize the organization’s and individual’s effectiveness, effectively participates in and/or supervises department projects related to assigned area of responsibilities and develops and uses collaborative relationships to accomplish work goals.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure or opposition and develops individual relationships by listening, sharing ideas and appreciating others’ efforts.
  • Ability to plan, organize and oversee the management of multiple projects and use appropriate methods and a flexible interpersonal style to help build a cohesive team and facilitate the completion of team goals.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.
