Serve as the initial contact and subject matter expert in the region for customs and trade compliance matters and provide the necessary advice, support, and content (including updates and developments)
Monitor adherence and support set-up of required processes to ensure DSC operates in compliance with customs and trade compliance rules and regulations, reporting concerns or issues to the RCO
Quality of inquiry resolution on customs and trade controls compliance topics
Responsible for timely support in region for internal controls assessments
Create and deploy country focused guidelines and instructions in line with DSC and regional policies and business priorities
Authority to instruct hold on shipments and provision of services where not in accordance with policy or legal mandates
Proactively support RCO with contract review and customer inquiries in line with set guidance and policy
Serves as a deputy to the RCO to implement and execute the DSC compliance management system, as required and other responsibilities permit
Promoting DPDHL’s Compliance policies, including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, Anti-Corruption & Business Ethics Policy and rules set forth for gifts, entertainment, sponsored events & hospitality
Maintains core compliance processes and monitoring frameworks for the compliance management system
Development of training initiatives to raise awareness of compliance issues
Leading and contributing to workshops, meetings, presentations, and (ad hoc) projects
Being a highly visible “point of contact” for all matters related to compliance and promoting a culture of openness for reporting compliance concerns or risks
Required Education & Experience
Degree in Business Management, International Trade, Finance, Supply Chain, Risk Management or similar, required
Advanced degree, preferred
10+ years professional experience in compliance, required
Significant customs/trade compliance experience and knowledge in a large, global, and/or highly regulated environment (i.e. export controls, customs processes, bonded facilities, sanctions)
Experience managing or implementing core corporate compliance programs (i.e. Code of Conduct, investigations, anti-bribery, conflict of interest)
Strong communication skills with the ability to engage in an open dialogue and to communicate technical compliance matters clearly and effectively using appropriate language, media, techniques, and tools to ensure mutual understanding and progress towards mutual goals
Able to establish excellent working relationships at all levels within the organization
Preferred, appropriate professional qualification which demonstrates technical competence (i.e. NCBFAA Certified Customs Specialist or Certified Export Specialist, Certified US Import Compliance Officer, or Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional)
