Performance Team and Damco Distribution, now part of the Maersk global organization under a combined Warehousing & Distribution division, offer third party logistics services to over 500 customers. Encompassing almost 15 million square feet of warehousing capacity throughout the country and a large transportation segment capturing a variety of services, we have key supply chain hubs in the Los Angeles and New Jersey/New York areas, and other facilities along the Western & Eastern coasts along with multiple locations in the Midwest. Delivering significant sales and profitability growth, we will drive the Inland Logistics and Services business for the combined US business units for Maersk.
Key responsibilities
Constant focus on the cost of operational labour and ensure that man hours are held to a minimum
Understand and uphold financial responsibility for the daily production and labour (P&L) and train direct reports on understanding the P&L
Communicate Company information, goals and objectives within the Operations team
Ensure safety policies and practices are being adhered to and are fundamental to the Company culture
Ensure work procedures and work schedules are being adhered to and that corrective action is being taken within the facility operations
Promote collaboration within facility teams to work to provide creative and innovative ideas to improve operational productivity while maintaining a safe work environment
Participate and/or represent DDSI within various operations, safety, and labor related meetings
Ensure that reports, billing and labour payroll are timely and accurate
Responsible for safe and efficient use of facility equipment
Constant focus on the cost of operational labour and ensure that man hours are held to a minimum
Effectively communicate with other departments and managers to ensure the efficiency of the facility as a whole
Have constant dialog with the Assistant Managers and Supervisors on daily operational issues and events, in their absence report the same information to the Facility Manager
Meet customer and Company key performance metrics, goals and objectives
Responsible to cross train management staff as well as warehouse associates
Foster team environment within the facility and demonstrate strong leadership skills
Manage, evaluate and mentor Assistant Managers and Supervisors
Supports the commitment to the Company’s Core Values
Coordinate with Managers and Human Resources to ensure adherence to Company policies and procedures
Perform other job-related duties as required
We are looking for
Qualifications
2+ years’ supervisory experience with a minimum of 10-20 direct reports, preferably in a warehouse or distribution environment
2+ years’ experience in hiring and firing employees and performance evaluations of direct reports
High School Diploma or G.E.D. required. College degree preferred but not required
Intermediate-Advanced proficient with systems (i.e.: Microsoft products; warehouse management systems, etc)
Must be able to have the flexibility to work all shifts, including nights weekends and holidays.
Must have the availability to work 1st shift. (6am-4:30pm M/FS).
Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
Preferred Qualifications (nice to have)
5+ years logistics experience in a warehouse setting
Experience with transloading, cross-docking, replenishment, drayage management, and inland transportation.
Experience with agile methodologies and/or continuous improvement
