Job Overview

Duties & responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of this position consists of, but are not limited to, the following:

Team Leadership
  • Outline employee role accountabilities and expectations; provide daily coaching and manage performance to ensure productivity, quality, efficiency, and service objectives are achieved
  • Prioritize and delegate work.  Monitor for accuracy, completeness, and efficiency
  • Support the personal/professional development for assigned team.  Coach and guide to improve performance and drive accountability
  • Provide timely feedback and problem-solving assistance via regular checkpoints and/or in response to situational needs.  Understand development needs and create opportunities for experiences that support development needs
  • Encourage employee feedback through formal and informal channels.  Work with next level manager to acknowledge and act on feedback to drive a trusting culture of open two-way communication, inclusivity and continuous improvement
  • Keep employees well-informed of operational activities, initiatives, and procedures and the impact to CHR overall
  • Lead and/or participate in new employee interviews and hiring decisions
  • Complete and/or provide input on employee compensation
  • Work with next level manager to define staffing levels and work schedules
Operations Leadership
  • Work with next level leader to establish and/or reinforce a culture cantered on quality, process and efficiency.  Review workflow and workload and adjust where necessary to optimize available resources
  • Ensure employee compliance to standard operating procedures
  • Serve as an escalation point for exceptions
  • Fill in and support the work of others when needed
  • Adhere to a high level of operational excellence with respect to timeliness and audit KPI’s
  • Demonstrate strong decision-making skills and ability to prioritize tasks between daily responsibilities
  • Prepare operational performance reports to provide insights to employees and next level leadership related to production, expense, and quality of service.  Take action to improve results where needed
  • Continuously evaluate operational processes for effectiveness and efficiency and where necessary, work with next level leader to remove waste, friction, and frustration
  • Ensure an understanding of available tools and systems to improve work processes and automation; work with next level leader and/or other operations leaders and internal stakeholders, to ensure adoption of system changes to improve effectiveness and/or efficiency; surface suggestions or improvements to drive better performance
Customer Service
  • Act as the ending escalation point for branch or customer issues
  • Ensure customer SOPs are followed
  • Conduct regular team meetings reviewing customer or carrier issues and current events
  • Develop relationships with branch offices and carriers
  • Other duties or responsibilities as assigned according to the team and/or country specific requirements


  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3+ years supply chain industry experience
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • 3-4 years of Gateway or shipment consolidations experience
  • Extensive industry and department knowledge (process & handling, regulations, international shipping, etc.)
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Previous customer service experience
  • Collaborative, adaptive leadership approach
  • Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
